Acrobatics is a mix of choreography and complex acrobatic skills performed in partnership to music on a 12 x 12 metre floor area. Taking part in acrobatic gymnastics builds agility, strength, flexibility and balance. Part of the world games, it also has its own dedicated world championships. Balance, tempo and combined routines are performed in competition giving gymnasts the chance to demonstrate their own artistry alongside balance work, pitching and catching, somersaults and twisting acrobatics. Disciplines include: men’s pair, women’s pair, mixed pair, women’s trio and men’s four.
