Gymfest 2018 – Sunday 21st January 2018 First Direct Arena
This information is only intended for LEEDS GYMNASTICS CLUB MEMBERS ONLY
For those who attended last year they will know it was a fabulous event and a wonderful showcase of gymnastics. We have made some changes this year and are restricting the number of routines and removing the final march on for all gymnasts. This should considerably reduce the running time of the event.
Please support the club at our major fund raising event and if you wish to advertise in our programme please email firstname.lastname@example.org for rates. We have decided that all LGC gymnasts will not pay an entry fee, but will instead buy a ticket and sit with their family and friends. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Full day tickets are priced at £13.55 for Adults and £10.55 for concessions and they can be purchased now direct from firstdirectarena.com/events.
Please read instructions for your class carefully. All gymnasts registered to perform will receive a wristband, which this will be needed to access the backstage areas.
If your child is in Pre-School – For this age child the Gymfest can be quite daunting and the pre-school Coaches select a small number of our gymnasts who they feel will cope with the stress of performing. Parents of pre-schoolers will need to buy tickets for themselves and their child. Full details will be given to parents by the pre-school team on how we will look after the children.
If your child’s class is one hour long : All children in the one hour general gymnastics programme will be taught a flash dance during their classes in November and December. This routine will be performed once in the morning and again in the afternoon.
If your child wishes to take part you need to go on to our website (Gymfest page) and register for the morning OR afternoon performance. We are offering 55 places in each session on a first come first served basis. Once you have registered on our website, you must then purchase your tickets on the FDA website.
The children in the flash mob need to wear a special Gymfest T-shirt (different to those sold at the event) and this will be provided free of charge for you by taking the confirmation of tickets purchased to reception and choosing the correct size T-shirt for your child. This must be done by December 9th at the latest.
For health and safety reasons if you have not booked a slot, regretfully gymnasts will not be able to perform.
Your child will sit with you and will come down from the auditorium to the performance floor (when instructed by the presenter) and after receiving their medals, they will come directly back up the stairs to you. We will have stewards available to guide them back up the stairs. Their coaches will be on hand to guide any nervous participants. Over the Christmas holidays we will organise a rehearsal for all those taking part (date TBC)
If your child does not want to take part you are still very welcome to come and watch a fantastic gymnastic experience and support our club.
If your child’s class is 1.5 hours or more: Each class will be performing at the Gymfest and it is a wonderful opportunity for them. The coaches of each group will need to know wish to take part at Gymfest by 19 November 2017 at the latest. Coaches will need to see your seat numbers as confirmation of participation (and also in case of any last minute timing changes).
Once the running order has been decided (November) each group will be given a meeting time and parents/carers will need to go to the designated LGC meeting point which will be the FDA Bar on the ground floor (on the left when you walk through the main entrance, before going up the escalators).
Gymnasts will register with their coach and the whole group will be taken to backstage to commence preparations for their performance. Please note this process can take up to 45 minutes/one hour before they appear on stage.
After the performance they will go back stage to collect their belongings and then they will be taken back to the meeting point to be re-united with their parents/carers. This will be approximately 15 minutes after they have appeared on the performance floor.
Except for the period when they are under the control of their coaches, children will remain the responsibility of their parents throughout the rest of the show.
As gymnasts leave the stage they will be given a commemorative medal to recognise the achievement of performing at Gymfest 2018
Please note gymnasts wearing a performer’s wristband can bring a packed lunch with them but please do not bring any foods containing nuts. Unfortunately other spectators will be unable to bring food into the event.
FDA will provide security information via email confirmation when tickets have been purchased. This will come direct to you with door opening times etc
If you have any further queries please email email@example.com
