Here is everything you need to know about the Gymnastics for All programme here at Leeds Gymnastics Club
Our classes
Our General Gymnastics classes run Monday to Saturday, and you will attend 1 class per week. Our classes are for boys and girls aged 4-11 and are organised by school year, at a coach:child ratio of 1:10. Classes use all the apparatus stations in the gym (floor, vault, beam, bars, trampoline) and are suitable for a wide range of abilities.
If you decide you would like to change the day of your class, our office staff can add you to our internal movements list, and you will be notified as soon as a place on your desired day becomes available.
The weekly timetable can be found below:
MONDAY – FRIDAY
4.30 – 5.30pm Key Stage 1 (Reception, year 1, year 2)
5.30 – 6.30pm Key Stage 2 (Year 3, year 4 and year 5)
We recognise that our gymnasts have a broad range of ability and experience, and we also have a series of more advanced Gymnastics for All classes that gymnasts move into when invited to do so by their coaches. The majority of these all take place on a Saturday.
Our club
Here at the club, we have a large waiting room, as well as a smaller boardroom – which is sometimes needed for meetings. The large waiting room has windows looking into the gym, and a television screen showing one of our floor areas. We are in the process of setting up another television screen in the waiting area so that more of the gym can be viewed by families at the club. Due to the limited entry/exit space in the gym, we are unable to allow any spectating by families downstairs – unless for a specified reason or event.
We have a small café/kitchen area upstairs in our club. Drinks and snacks can be purchased here from 4-7pm on weekday evenings, and throughout the day on Saturdays. We also have an LGC kit shop at the club; where you can find all of our official club clothing available to buy.
We provide free WiFi for our members in the upstairs waiting rooms, and the login details can be found on our main noticeboard.
Our policies and procedures
We follow the standards set by British Gymnastics on areas such as Safeguarding, Coaching Excellence and Health & Safety. We take the welfare of our members very seriously and have a team of 6 qualified Welfare Officers here at the club. We also have strict codes of conduct; that must be followed by all members, staff/coaches, families and customers alike. Full details of our Welfare Team, as well as all our policies/codes of conduct, can be found within our Member Handbook on our website.
Our staff
We are very lucky to have a large and diverse coaching team, who come from many different gymnastic backgrounds. Our team is both experienced and highly qualified; to ensure that we are always providing a safe but engaging and high-quality experience for our gymnasts.
Our coaches are always approachable and are happy to provide informal feedback at the end of a session. Children in Reception to Y6 classes will receive a Report Card at the end of each school term; detailing their progress on each apparatus. All gymnasts in General Gymnastics classes up to Y6 are also assessed for British Gymnastics Proficiency Badges twice per year. We recognise that all children are different and that not all of them progress at the same rate, and therefore any gymnasts who do not achieve a BG Badge during an assessment period will be awarded one of our Leeds Gymnastics Club Working Towards certificates instead.
Parking at Leeds Gymnastics Club
We have a large car park at the back of our building; with a pedestrian gate leading straight to our front entrance. This is for the sole use of our members, so please use it whenever you visit us – even when simply dropping off or collecting children. Please avoid using Limewood Business Park for parking or collection/drop-off, as we share the site with many other businesses and it is not safe for pedestrian use; particularly during the winter months. As a club, we possess only 6 parking spaces in the Business Park and these are for staff use only. If you use the Business Park for parking or collection/drop-off, you will be asked to move your vehicle by our staff, and failure to do so will result in a formal warning.
